Try the 5 boxes of the minor pentatonic scale once you learn the shapes you can play them in all 12 keys

Hey going one step beyond Warren's reply take that minor pentatonic and add the blues note which is the fifth note in the scale, for example first position minor pent is 1-4, 1-3, 1-3, 1-3, 1-4, 1-4. the blues note would make that 1-4, 1-2-3, 1-3, 1-3-4, 1-4, 1-4.
